Thank you to all who joined us for the 12th Annual Davenport Evans Banking Seminar, Friday, April 27, at The Country Club of Sioux Falls, formerly Westward Ho.
Banker attendance has continued to exceed our expectations. The seminar began with a hot breakfast and a welcome and introductory remarks by Charles D. Gullickson. The day’s presentations began with Chris Prendergast of Click Rain, and Keith A. Gauer presenting on Digital Banking 2018: Customer Interest Assessment and Compliance Issues, followed by Trying to Save the Farm without Breaking the Bank: A Primer on Chapter 12 Bankruptcy, presented by Robert E. Hayes and Anthony M. Hohn.
After a networking break, Charles Gullickson moderated a conversation with regulators, including James LaPierre, Regional Director, FDIC and Bret Afdahl, Director, South Dakota Division of Banking.
Next was a presentation from Davenport Evans employment lawyer Jean H. Bender, Workplace Harassment = Risky Business, followed by a “Bonus Round” of three shorter presentations. Tiffany M. Miller presented, The CFPB Under Mulvaney: Moderation and Math and Donuts (Oh My!), Rita M. Edwards presented, Vendor or Villain? Avoid These 5 Contract Traps with Third Party Vendors, and Dixie K. Hieb presented, Breach Readiness: Essential Elements of a Breach Response Plan.
After the final break and introductions of the remaining Davenport Evans lawyers in attendance, lunch was served. Douglas J. Hajek introduced the keynote speaker, Chad Knutson, President of SBS CyberSecurity. Knutson’s presentation was entitled, Cybersecurity Trends and Hot Topics in Banking.
