Our 80th Anniversary celebration and giving back campaign continued with a recent visit to the after-school program at the Multi-Cultural Center (MCC) of Sioux Falls. When we called to find a list of items needed most by the kids at the center, Executive Director Christy Nicolaisen mentioned that her office staff had been sewing and duct taping backpacks for children since the start of the school year. Our firm immediately set to work purchasing 80 backpacks, in honor of our 80 years in business, and arranging for an after-school visit.

Yogurt Content MCC Youth Winner 2019In addition to the backpack donation, we had fun joining the Multi-Cultural Center’s 70 kids in a cupcake walk and a yogurt eating contest! Neither the kids nor our lawyers were exactly prepared for the challenge of eating an entire 32 ounce tub of plain yogurt… but in two rounds, both Doug Hajek and an MCC student had completed the task! They certainly earned the cheers of the crowd!

Tiffany Miller Speaking at MCC 2019After the competition, Tiffany Miller shared a little about what it takes to go to school to be a lawyer, and choose law as a profession. Other lawyers participating in the day’s activities included Jean Bender, Tom Frankman, Elizabeth Hertz, Mark Krogstad and Mike Srstka. The kids, MCC staff and attorneys wrapped up the afternoon with a cupcake walk and cookies. Davenport Evans wishes to thank Christy Nicolaisen, her staff, and the kids, for a really fun afternoon!
