After over three decades with Davenport, Evans, Hurwitz & Smith, attorney Rick Orr and legal assistant Colleen Emmons both logged their last hour at the close of 2017. A celebration of their work with the firm was held with attorneys and staff.
Rick W. Orr joined Davenport Evans as an associate attorney in 1985 and became a partner in 1989. His practice included a wide variety of civil litigation, as reflected by his membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates. In recent years, his practice focused on workers’ compensation, including acting as a mediator in workers’ compensation and personal injury cases. There, too, he was recognized both within the firm and by his peers as a leader. In addition to numerous reported appellate decisions that determine rights and obligations in that field, Rick served on and headed the State Bar’s workers’ compensation committee. In 2014, Rick was inducted into the prestigious College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers.
Colleen Emmons joined Davenport Evans as a legal assistant in 1987 having already worked a few years in the legal industry. She and Rick worked together her entire 30 years at the firm, making their joint retirement a fitting end to two long careers. In thanking Colleen for her work and friendship, Rick commented they had been a support to one another through many of life’s ups and downs. Likewise, Colleen remarked that she would take with her many fond memories as she retired. Davenport Evans thanks Colleen and Rick for their years of dedication to the firm and wishes them both the very best in their retirement.
