On December 13, Davenport Evans celebrated the holiday season as we do every year, with a time of service. Attorneys, staff and family members spent an evening serving a meal, eating with guests, washing dishes, scrubbing tables and being blessed at The Banquet.
Dinner was served to 339 guests, including 49 children, and we enjoyed some time to get to know our neighbors and the meaningful work done by The Banquet every day. According to www.thebanquetsf.org, in 2016 volunteer groups working with The Banquet served 196,000 meals, with more than 25,000 of those meals served to children under age 12. They go through an estimated 15,000 gallons of milk each year.
The Banquet offers breakfast and dinner Monday through Friday, and lunch on Saturday, at the downtown location at 900E. 8th Street. The Banquet also provides dinner meals Tuesday and Wednesday evenings on the west side of Sioux Falls at the W.H. Lyons Fairgrounds.
