Davenport Evans employee Larry Johnson can often be found around the firm answering service requests, overseeing work on the boiler, or clearing walkways of ice and snow. It’s a tireless job that requires a person with a broad range of skills. When not at work, Larry has employed those skills restoring the turn-of-the century home he shares with his wife, Ardell, in Valley Springs, SD.
When the Johnsons completed the work on their home, they finished the intricate spindles of the front porch in red, white, and blue, and displayed an American Flag. The family felt a commitment to carrying on the traditions that make their community great, and made a point to teach to their grandchildren the Pledge of Allegiance from an early age. Their patriotism was recently recognized by the local American Legion, who awarded Larry and Ardell Johnson the Charles R. Doman American Legion Auxiliary’s January “Presenting the Colors” award. The photo of the Johnsons shown above, with their grandchildren, Kasey, Vivian, and Nathan, is courtesy of the Brandon Valley Challenger.
