Davenport Evans is pleased to welcome its 2012 summer associate class of Sam Griffin, Melinda Folkens, and Curtis Bankers. Davenport Evans has a long history of hiring associates who have participated in the firm’s summer associate program.
Melinda Folkens attends the University of South Dakota School of Law and will graduate in May 2013. Folkens, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, serves as Vice President of the ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) Board and Student Liaison to the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association. She received the Dean’s Certificate of Outstanding Performance for both Criminal Law and Fundamental Legal Skills. Folkens earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Paralegal Studies from National American University.
Sam Griffin attends the University of Iowa College of Law and will graduate in May 2013. Griffin serves as a student writer for the Journal of Transnational Law and Contemporary Problems and a research assistant for the Legal Writing Center. Griffin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from American University.
Curtis Bankers attends the University of Iowa College of Law and will graduate in May 2014. Bankers received a full-tuition Law Merit Scholarship. Bankers, a Sioux Falls native, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy from Creighton University.
Davenport Evans seeks to provide summer associates with a broad range of legal experiences. Each summer associate works with supervising attorneys from the law firm’s litigation and business sections to help provide a realistic glimpse into the practice of law. Summer associates conduct research, draft substantive legal documents, and accompany attorneys on a variety of legal matters.
