Davenport Evans is pleased to welcome its 2019 summer associate class, (L to R above) Aidan F. Goetzinger, Lori M. Rensink and Kalen N. Frericks. Davenport Evans has a long history of hiring law students who participate in the firm’s summer associate program.

Aidan F. Goetzinger attends the University of South Dakota School of Law (USD) and will graduate in May 2020. Aidan competes nationally as a member of the Moot Court Board and the Trial Team. Aidan serves as a research assistant for both Professor Emeritus Christine Hutton and Professor Emeritus Frank Pommersheim. Aidan also assists Professor Hutton and Randy Seiler in an ongoing revision of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribal Code.  He is a student-member of the Academic Affairs and Curriculum Committee as well as a law student liaison to the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association. Originally from Rapid City, SD, Aidan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in French Studies from the University of South Dakota Honors Program.

Lori M. Rensink attends the University of South Dakota School of Law (USD) and will graduate in May 2020. Lori serves as the President of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Board at USD.  As a member of the ADR Board, Lori has competed in the ABA Regional Negotiation Competition in Missoula, Montana, and the Robert Merhige National Environmental Law Negotiation in Richmond, Virginia.  In addition, Lori will spend the next school year serving as a student attorney in USD’s low income tax clinic. Originally from Freeman, SD, Lori received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and Business Administration from the University of Sioux Falls.

Kalen N. Frericks attends the University of Nebraska College of Law in Lincoln, NE, and will graduate in May 2021. This past year she has served as class president in the Student Bar Association, as a student ambassador to the law school, as social chair of the Environmental and Agricultural Law Society, and as class representative and volunteer for the Community Legal Education Project, an organization that teaches the constitution to elementary and middle school students. Originally from Northville, SD, Kalen received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with minors in Political Science and Criminology from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln.

Davenport Evans seeks to provide summer associates a broad range of legal experience. Each summer associate works with supervising attorneys from the law firm’s litigation and business sections to help provide a realistic glimpse into the practice of law. Summer associates conduct research, draft substantive legal documents, and accompany attorneys on a variety of legal matters.
