Davenport Evans is pleased to welcome its 2018 summer associate class, (L to R above) Caralyn E. Brown, Benjamin G. Selbo and Tracy G. Miller. Davenport Evans has a long history of hiring law students who participate in the firm’s summer associate program.
Caralyn E. Brown attends the University of St. Thomas School of Law, in Minneapolis, MN, and will graduate in May, 2019 with a Juris Doctor and Master of Public Policy degree. This past fall she externed with The Honorable Luis Bartolomei in the Fourth Judicial District of Minnesota and served as a law clerk at the Institute of Justice, a legal non-profit, in their Minnesota office. Last summer, Cara worked at a legal oversight group in Washington D.C. that advocates for government transparency and accountability. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Grove City College, in Grove City, PA. Prior to law school Cara worked at a Shared Services organization providing training resources in Washington D.C. and participated in a vocational leadership program called Capital Fellows. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Cara has called Sioux Falls home for almost fifteen years.
Benjamin G. Selbo attends the University of South Dakota School of Law and will graduate in May, 2019 with a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degree. Ben serves as a member of the Moot Court Board and President of the USD Entertainment and Sports Law Association. Originally from Scottsdale, Arizona, Ben received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management and Political Science from Luther College, in Decorah, IA. Ben spent his entire junior year of undergrad studying abroad at the University of Nottingham in Nottingham, UK.
Tracy G. Miller attends the University of South Dakota School of Law (USD) and will graduate in May, 2019. Tracy serves as the Vice President of the Moot Court Board at USD and is a graduate assistant to Devra Hermosilla. Last summer, she completed an internship with the Minnehaha County State’s Attorney’s Office. Originally from Canton, SD, Tracy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from South Dakota State University. When not in class or at the office, Tracy enjoys spending time with her daughter, Allegra.
Davenport Evans seeks to provide summer associates a broad range of legal experience. Each summer associate works with supervising attorneys from the law firm’s litigation and business sections to help provide a realistic glimpse into the practice of law. Summer associates conduct research, draft substantive legal documents, and accompany attorneys on a variety of legal matters.
