Davenport Evans is celebrating its 75th Anniversary in 2014 with a year-long “Giving Back” campaign. As part of the campaign, Davenport Evans is selecting 12 local non-profits, one representing each month of the year, and donating 75 items to each from their wish-list.
The first of 12 “Giving Back” projects representing the 12 months of the year, was a donation of hygiene items to the Salvation Army made earlier this year. Click here to read about that gift and community organization.
Davenport Evans donates 75 packages of diapers to the Teddy Bear Den
The second “Giving Back” gift was made with a donation of 75 packages of diapers to the Teddy Bear Den. Attorney Anthony Hohn was there to present the donation and thank the staff for their work in our community. The Teddy Bear Den program is geared toward low-income pregnant women, pregnant immigrant women and pregnant teens as they are least likely to receive adequate care during pregnancy. The program provides mothers with incentives and rewards in exchange for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The Teddy Bear Den collaborates with 265 health care providers, clinics, social service agencies, schools and treatment centers to make referrals, stamp participant point books, and help verify that participants are maintaining a healthy lifestyle during their pregnancy. Mothers can shop the boutique-like Den with rewards points for new baby clothing, diapers and other supplies.
Davenport Evans donates 75 packages of pet food and supplies to the Humane Society
The third “Giving Back” project was a gift of 75 packages of pet food and supplies to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society. When the firm became aware of the Humane Society’s urgent need for support, particularly in the areas of food and other items for cats and kittens, it stepped into action. The overflowing cart at Walmart drew a lot of wide eyes from shoppers, but was a great opportunity to share the news of the need for donations to this great cause. Attorney Mark Krogstad was on-hand for the donation delivery, adding, “Davenport Evans was happy to help support the Humane Society at a time when they need it most.”
