Davenport Evans is pleased to welcome its 2017 summer associate class, Erin Scott, Olivia Karns and Alayna Ackerman. Davenport Evans has a long history of hiring law students who participate in the firm’s summer associate program.
Erin L. Scott attends the University of South Dakota School of Law and will graduate in May, 2018. Erin serves as an executive member of the Moot Court Board, Christine Hutton’s Graduate Assistant, and a member of various student organizations. Originally from Aurora, CO, Erin moved to South Dakota to play collegiate softball at the University of Sioux Falls, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice.
Olivia R. Karns attends the University of Iowa College of Law and will graduate May, 2018. Olivia serves as the Academic Director of Iowa Moot Court board and as the Administrative Editor for the Journal of Corporation Law. Olivia is also the research assistant for Professor Herbert Hovenkamp. Originally from Fairbanks, Alaska, Olivia received her Bachelor’s degree in English from Gustavus Adolphus College. Prior to law school Olivia worked for an Alaskan Senator in Washington, D.C. and for the majority leader of the Minnesota House of Representatives.
Alayna A. Ackerman attends the University of South Dakota School of Law and will graduate in May, 2018. After attending the University of Minnesota Law School for her first year of legal studies, Alayna now serves as a Staff Writer for Volume 63 of the South Dakota Law Review and the Graduate Assistant for Associate Dean of Academic Affairs Tiffany Graham. Originally from Rapid City, SD, Alayna earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice from the University of South Dakota Honors Program.
Davenport Evans seeks to provide summer associates a broad range of legal experience. Each summer associate works with supervising attorneys from the law firm’s litigation and business sections to help provide a realistic glimpse into the practice of law. Summer associates conduct research, draft substantive legal documents, and accompany attorneys on a variety of legal matters.
