Over the last 30+ years, Davenport Evans scholarships have benefited over 250 high school seniors through the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation. The scholarships are designated for use at institutions of higher learning in the state of South Dakota.
“The firm recognizes that our best and brightest high school seniors are the future of South Dakota and key to growing our economy,” explained Davenport Evans lawyer Vince Roche. “That’s a primary reason why we are committed to encouraging those students to attend one of our fine in-state institutions of higher learning, with the hope that some of them will ultimately put down roots in a local community.” Davenport Evans lawyer Mitch Peterson was, himself, a past Davenport Evans scholar.
For over 30 years, the law firm has honored the academic achievement and community involvement of area students through the Davenport Evans Scholarship. The firm awards scholarships each year to eight students totaling $20,000. Application criteria are as follows:

Requirements
Be graduating seniors of public or private high schools in Brookings, Lake, Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha, Moody, or Turner counties.
Have high academic achievement as demonstrated by cumulative GPA, class rank, and ACT score.
Attend an accredited public or private four-year college or university in South Dakota.
Be involved in school and community activities.
Demonstrate a desire to pursue and meet educational goals.
* Applicants are ineligible for this scholarship if they are the children, spouse, or immediate family members of a DEHS partner, an employee of the firm who is a licensed attorney, or any other employee of the firm who holds a management position.
