Davenport Evans partner Eric Schulte recently coached a team of students from the University of South Dakota School of Law at the inaugural South Texas Mock Trial Challenge in Houston, Texas. Schulte, who served as a co-coach with fellow Sioux Falls attorney Clint Sargent, has volunteered with USD’s trial team for over 10 years.
The four students on the team competed against 40 teams of law students from some of the best schools in the country. The tournament focused on contemporary medical-legal issues. Schulte assisted the students in preparing for the four-day event where the law school teams argued their case before panels of prestigious judges, attorneys and law school faculty.
Schulte, a member of the firm’s insurance litigation team, specializes in general civil litigation in cases ranging from auto accidents to contract disputes. Schulte also does extensive insurance defense work and represents employers and insurers in workers’ compensation claims. He joined the firm in 2000 after graduating from the University of South Dakota School of Law.
Davenport Evans, located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is one of South Dakota’s largest law firms, and its attorneys provide business and litigation counsel to individuals and corporate clients in a variety of practice areas.
