Reece Almond is a partner and litigation attorney at Davenport Evans with a wide range of civil litigation experience, including in the areas of commercial litigation, zoning and land-use litigation, trust litigation, employment litigation, personal injury, and insurance defense. Originally from Huron, South Dakota, Reece joined the firm in 2014 after clerking for the Honorable Karen E. Schreier of the U.S. District Court of South Dakota. Reece received his bachelor of science degree from the University of South Dakota in mathematics and political science. He then graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School and was admitted to University of Minnesota’s chapter of the Order of the Coif.
In 2023, Reece was nominated for the YPN 4 Under 40 Award, through the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce. The awards will be awarded in August 2023. In 2022, Reece was awarded the South Dakota Bar Association Pro Bono Service Award for dedication to pro bono service through the State Bar of South Dakota’s Legal Aid Program, Access to Justice, Inc. Reece was selected to the Great Plains Rising Stars in 2019, 2020 and 2021 in the area of Business Litigation by Great Plains Super Lawyers. Each year, no more than 2.5% of lawyers in a state are selected for this honor.
Outside of work, Reece chairs the South Dakota State Bar’s Ask-A-Lawyer program, serves as Vice Chair of the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation board, and as Vice Chair of the Friends of the Big Sioux River. He has also served as a volunteer judge for the Sioux Empire Teen Court program. He enjoys golf, basketball, kayaking, hiking, and biking.
