Kalen Frericks Peterson is a South Dakota business and transactional attorney at Davenport Evans. Originally from Northville, South Dakota, Kalen joined the firm in 2021 after interning with the firm in both 2019 and 2020. She practices in the areas of Banking and Financial Services, Corporate and Business Law, Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights, e-Commerce Internet and Cyber Law, and Real Estate.

Kalen graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2018 with a degree in Psychology and minors in Criminology and Political Science. She received her J.D. from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2021, graduating with distinction. During law school, Kalen was the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships including the Schmid Honors Scholarship given for high academic merit and substantial student body involvement. She served both as her Student Bar Association class president and class representative, participated in Moot Court Board and the National Moot Court team, aided as a teaching assistant for the business associations class under Prof. C. Steven Bradford, and worked as a student attorney in the University of Nebraska’s Entrepreneurship Clinic.

When not working, Kalen enjoys horseback riding, golfing, playing guitar, spending time with her dog and family and cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
