Tony Metzgar is a litigation attorney at Davenport Evans.  Originally from Elk Point, South Dakota, Tony joined the firm in 2025, having been a summer associate in 2023. He assists both large and small clients in a wide range of civil disputes involving contracts, zoning and land use, employment, and trusts and estates.

Tony graduated from Augustana University in 2016 and earned a Master of Education degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2018.  He was a dedicated teacher and coach for five years before enrolling in law school.

Tony earned his Juris Doctorate from University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law in 2024, graduating summa cum laude and with Sterling Honors. During law school, Tony completed an externship for the South Dakota Supreme Court, worked as a research assistant for the University of South Dakota Office of General Counsel, and served as Editor-in-Chief of the South Dakota Law Review. Following graduation, Tony worked as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Roberto A. Lange, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of South Dakota.

Outside of work, Tony is a proud member of the South Dakota National Guard 1-147th Field Artillery Battalion in Yankton, South Dakota. In his free time, he enjoys attending sporting events, plays, musicals, and concerts with his fiancée Sara.
