2025 Davenport Evans Summer Associates (as shown above, left to right:)
Jacob J. Howard attends the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law and just completed his 2L year. Jacob serves as a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board. Originally from Onida, SD, Jacob earned his bachelor’s degree in political science and criminal justice and minors in legal studies and English from Northern State University while being a captain of the NSU Football Team. In his free time, Jacob enjoys lifting, running, and spending time with his friends and family.
Kate J. Sargent attends the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, Minnesota and just completed her 2L year. Kate serves as an associate editor for the University of St. Thomas Law Journal. Kate graduated from the University of Minnesota with a major in Finance and a Business Law minor. In her free time in the summer, Kate enjoys spending time with her friends and family at Lake Madison, reading, and watching movies.
Julianne M. Severson attends the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law and just completed her second year of law school. She serves as the Vice President for USD Law’s Moot Court Board and as a research assistant for Academic Dean Shirley Mays. Julianne participated in both the Tribal Wills and the Income Tax Assistance clinics. Originally from Montana, Julianne earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting at the University of Montana. Now, Vermillion, South Dakota is her permanent home with her husband and three children. In her free time, Julianne enjoys camping and hiking in state and national parks with her family and reading historical non-fiction.
Davenport Evans seeks to provide summer associates a broad range of legal experience. Each summer associate works with supervising attorneys from the law firm’s litigation and business sections to help provide a realistic glimpse into the practice of law. Summer associates conduct research, draft substantive legal documents, and accompany attorneys on a variety of legal matters.
