At a ceremony September 25, Davenport Evans attorney Anthony Hohn and Marketing Director Kristen Townsend joined scholarship donors and recipients for the Southeast Technical Institute Investor Scholarship Reception. Alexis Reich, a Cardiac Ultrasound Program major from Vermillion, South Dakota, was awarded the 2013-2014 Davenport Evans scholarship. Alexis was drawn to her field of study due to her personal experience as a pediatric cardiac patient. She felt a patient’s perspective might be of help to others, and her cardiologist encouraged her to pursue a Cardiac Ultrasound degree. The major is regarded as one of the most rigorous programs at Southeast Technical Institute.
In total, the STI Foundation awarded $170,000 in scholarships to over 220 deserving Southeast Tech students who will become the workforce of the future in the Sioux Falls region. In addition to the STI scholarship, Davenport Evans also funds eight scholarships for area graduating high school seniors who will attend South Dakota colleges and universities, as well as several scholarships at the University of South Dakota School of Law.
