Three members of the Davenport Evans litigation section were elected to leadership positions of state organizations during the State Bar Convention June 16-18..
Eric Schulte was elected to the State Bar's Board of Bar Commissioners as the representative of the Second Judicial Circuit. The Bar Commission oversees and is responsible for the general affairs and activities of the State Bar. Eric, who was named the State Bar's Young Lawyer of the Year in 2005 and served as president of the Second Circuit Bar Association in 2005-2006, was elected to a three-year term at the State Bar general membership meeting June 18.
Tom Frankman and Mark Haigh were each elected to board positions for the South Dakota Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) at the chapter's annual meeting June 17. Frankman, a past member of the Board of Governors of the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association, was elected vice president/president-elect. Haigh was elected chapter secretary-treasurer. Membership in ABOTA, which is dedicated to preservation of the jury system, is by invitation only and requires a specified amount of jury trial experience.
